New York City Mentoring Program and Interpublic Group Celebrate 2014 Scholarship Winners

Wednesday, August 27, 2014

The New York City Mentoring Program continued its partnership with Interpublic Group to offer a college scholarship to two of the program’s most promising mentees.  Amanda Fazio and Tommy Valerio, both graduating seniors, were honored with this year’s award. Amanda has been paired with her mentor, Kalei Hori from ESPN for one year. In her scholarship application essay, Amanda wrote, “Spending time with an accomplished mentor from ESPN, volunteering for numerous organizations, and collaborating as a club to initiate fundraisers and other events has allowed me to grow as a student, mentee, artist, and leader.”  Tommy’s mentor for two years, Dane Joella from AEA Investors LP praised his work ethic, leadership, outstanding academic record, and ability to take initiative. The students were honored at a special reception with senior leadership from the Interpublic Group, the staff of the New York City Mentoring Program, their mentors, and their families. Additionally, past scholarship recipients attended to share their stories of success and celebrate this year’s winners – a testament to the strong sense of community that lasts long after New York City Mentoring Program participants graduate from high school.

Over the past 21 years, Interpublic Group has generously contributed over $200,000 to the New York City Mentoring Program for scholarships for college-bound senior mentees.
