From Eric’s perspective: My mentor Landy and I have built a memorable relationship over the last 3 years. We consistently kept in contact with each other to ensure that our bond remains intact throughout the pandemic, and it has indeed paid off.
A mentoring session I found memorable was when we took the time to review my college application. My mentor provided advice and clarity in my life story and that can also help with my future goals. His input and knowledge was invaluable. Many times when I felt frustrated or nervous, his leadership helped me deal with the situation and adjust accordingly.
Mentoring is extremely important to help anyone avoid many obstacles on their path to success. I was fortunate enough to be mentored by someone like Landy and I believe that this developed relationship is a lifelong relationship beyond work or school.
From Landy’s perspective: I have been a Mentor to Eric for three years. I admire his kindness and drive to succeed. A mentoring session that was particularly memorable was reviewing and providing feedback on Eric’s college application. It allowed me to provide advice on how to bring clarity to Eric’s amazing life story and future career aspirations.
Mentoring is important because both parties learn and benefit from each other. For mentees, it allows them to receive guidance, coaching, and direction. For mentors, it allows them to expand leadership skills, to improve listening and interpersonal skills, and to positively influence the lives of young people. In essence, mentors play a pivotal role in shaping the future leaders in our society.
We are pleased to announce Landy and Eric as the 2022 Mentor & Mentee of the Year!
